It is a 4-Way Race in Iowa
Survey Shows Obama Losing Disaffected Democrats and Independent Voters to Ron Paul
MUNCIE, Indiana – TeleResearch conducted the largest sample to date of registered Iowa Republicans (678) likely to attend the upcoming caucus on January 3rd, 2012. Further, the survey finds that when including disaffected Democrats and Independent voters likely to take part in the Republican Caucus, the total sample balloons to 846 resulting in a +/- 3.4% margin of error.
Professor of Political Science, Timothy M. Hagle of the University in Iowa was recently quoted in an article published in the Des Moines Register pertaining to the survey that the results of the TeleResearch survey conducted on behalf of RevPAC are consistent with the J. Ann Selzer/Bloomberg poll conducted a week earlier which also show the Republican race as a four-way race to be Iowans first choice as the GOP nominee.
In addition, the survey shows what could be a troubling sign for President Obama as disaffected Democrats and Independents in Iowa indicate they plan to cross over to support Republican candidate Ron Paul. As such, factoring in the crossover factor breaks the bottleneck in the Republican field with Ron Paul emerging with a four-point lead.
TeleResearch Corporation conducted the telephone survey on Monday, November 21, 2011 and received the responses of 2,983 randomly selected statewide registered-voters. The overall survey has a margin of error of +/- 1.79%.
